Country Music Star Mickey Gilley was among five "Louisiana Legends" honored Thursday night, May 10 at the Old State Capitol.

The others included Linda Thomas-Greenfield, a Baker native and the newly-appointed director general of the Foreign Service for the U.S. State Department; Dr. James Andrews, a world-renowned orthopedic surgeon; Gayle Hatch, a weightlifting and strength and conditioning coach of the 2004 U. S. Weightlifting team, and Richard Zuschlag, the founder and CEO of Acadian Ambulance.

The 22nd annual awards gala is sponsored by the Friends of Louisiana Public Broadcasting.
