More than 300 people attended the Seventh Annual "Bringing Back Baseball" Gala on Wednesday, Nov. 7.
The event which was held at the Crowne Plaza is sponsored by the Southern University baseball program and the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association. WAFB's Michelle McCalope served as the emcee.
"It went well," says Southern Baseball Coach Roger Cador. "I think this was our second biggest crowd."
Current and former baseball players attending included Frazier Hall, Trenidad Hubbard, Chuck McElroy, Brian McRae, Desi Relaford, David Dellucci, Pete Falcone, Mike Fontenot, Dan Ford, Terry Fox, Rick Greene, Cody Hall, and Art "Red" Swanson. Others included Southern's Chancellor James Llorens, Southern's Athletic Director William Broussard, New Roads Mayor Robert Myer, and Baker Mayor Harold Rideau.
Proceeds are used to fund the Southern program as well as Little League programs in the Baton Rouge area.
