The East Baton Rouge Parish Chapter of the Southern University Alumni recently held its alumni breakfast at the Cotillion Ballroom in the Smith-Brown Memorial Union.

More than 200 alumni and friends attended the event which raises money for scholarships. Southern's National Alumni Federation President Dennis Brown served as the guest speaker.

He urged attendees to "forgive others, forgive Southern, and forgive yourselves and to see yourself at your best."

He also encouraged them to give back to the university saying it is up to the alumni to save their university.

The EBR chapter president Janet St. Cyr-Moore and Breakfast Chaiman Melvin Robinson handed out special awards for alumnus of the year and others. They also recognized the basketball coach, tennis coach, and bowling coach.
