9 am – Community Health Awareness Day at Allen Chapel A.M.E Chapel, 6175 Scenic Highway, with school supplies, face painting, space walks, food, HIV/AIDS testing, and presentations by orthopedic, dentist, and health educators.
10 a.m. -- St. Gabriel Health Clinic, 5760 Monticello Drive, will be open for business to help parents get the kids ready with medical and dental checkups and immunizations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A Back-to-School Extravaganza will be held from from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at East Iberville School. It will feature free school supplies and other giveaways.
10 a.m. - Sisters of Sophistication will host its 10th Annual Back to School Rally at McKinley Middle Magnet School Gymnasium from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be school supplies, free lunch, door prizes, and more. The rally runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
10 a.m. - Back to School Give-A-Way at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, 4400 Gus Young Ave., hosted by District 7 Councilwoman C. Denise Marcelle. To participate or donate supplies, contact at 225-389-3182 or cdmarcelle@brgov.com.
10 a.m. – A Family Affair: A Back to School Giveaway at the Anna T. Jordan Community Park, 1750 Stilt St.., in Scotlandville. The Louisiana Black Alliance for Educational Options will give school supplies to the first 300 students. Parents will receive information on healthcare, job training, and financial literacy.
10 a.m. —Recharge, Refuel, Rebuild, a school supply give-away and family resource event at the Interdenominational Faith Assembly, 5045 Greenwell St. (at North Foster). Free food, community resource tables, science exhibits, and a demonstration by personal trainer Obi Ikechukwu of Spectrum Fitness. The event is hosted by District 5 Councilwoman Ronnie Edwards, Senator Sharon Weston Broome, and State Representative Regina Barrow in partnership with IFA.
10 a.m. -The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office (Scotlandville Sub-Station) will host its Fourth Annual School Supply Giveaway. On Saturday, August 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Glen Oaks High School located at 6650 Cedar Grove Drive in Baton Rouge. School children will receive school supplies.
9 a.m. Allen Chapel A.M.E. Community Health Awareness, 6175 Scenic Highway, 9 a.m. to noon. School supplies and health fair.
