BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB)- The Baton Rouge Bomb squad and Hazmat teams evacuated people from an area on Sherwood Forest between Haymarket Avenue and Market Place Avenue Wednesday morning.
Both Haymarket and Market Place were blocked off. The evacuation started around 9:30 a.m. and the "all clear" was given at 2 p.m.
Initial reports say a truck was discovered behind a building on Market Place Avenue. The truck was reported stolen two days ago. A BRPD officer said the truck smelled like chlorine or ammonia and called for backup.
The truck belongs to Auto-Chlor, a Baton Rouge company.
As a precaution, the Baton Rouge Police Department sent the bomb squad. Because they were suspicious of the truck, police made sure every safety measure was taken.
No injuries have been reported.
