9News Neighborhoods celebrating Mother's Day

Brittney Dorsey of North Baton Rouge wrote this about her mother Fannie Dorsey:

"My mother is an awesome woman. She bends backwards for everyone. She would give the clothes off her back for anyone in need. My mom is caring and sweet. She is always funny. She is simply the best mom I could ever have. My mom is the best blessing from God. I just love my mom so much. We share so much with each other like the Saints and Church.  I love you mom.

Unity Day! Find your Inner Force! Baton Rouge Summer Camp Enrollment Showcase will be held on Saturday, May 12 from noon until 4 p.m. at the Exxon Mobil YMCA in the BREC Gym, 7717 Howell Boulevard, in Baton Rouge.

Unity Day Youth and Family Zone, the YMCA of the Capital Area, Sheriff Sid Gautreaux, and the East Baton
Rouge Sheriff’s Department; BREC; Glen Oaks Baptist Church; City Councilwoman Ronnie Edwards; State
Representative Regina Barrow; Louisiana Governors’ Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, the Baton Rouge Area Sports Foundation; and many others will be participating.

The purpose of this event is to promote enrollment of “Emerging Market/At Risk” youth into pro-social summer
activities that enhance their social, emotional, physical, ethical, and academic skills. We believe that thoughtful
community collaboration that includes: local schools; youth, and families; business, government; faith based
and health institutions, and law enforcement, will drive greater enrollment into summer pro-social activities and
therefore arrest crime and promote positive human development.
