Dawson Odoms is the new head football coach at Southern | Events

The Southern University Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Friday, Dec. 14  to hire interim Coach Dawson Odoms as the 20th head  football coach.

This after a recommendation by Athletic Director William Broussard at the board meeting who said Odoms met all of the qualifications.

"He's done much with little and he's led with purpose and discipline," Broussard says.  "He deserves to lead this team."

Odoms was not at the meeting. When asked where he was, Broussard said "he's recruiting." Board Member Tony Clayton replied "good answer."

The new coach will be formally introduced at a news conference Tuesday morning.
