Two LSU Alumnae Create a New Resource for Moms | Community Spirit
BATON ROUGE – Baton Rouge will soon have a new resource for moms across the area with the launch of Red Stick Moms Blog, www.redstickmomsblog.com.
The new site, part of the national City Moms Blog Network, aims to connect moms to information and parenting perspectives unique to the communities in which they live; to bring the online world of the mom blog to the local level; and encourage women to connect with one another offline.
“Red Stick Moms Blog is a rapidly growing community of moms in the Baton Rouge area,” said Co-Founder Angela Hayden, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nutritional sciences in 2007. “We plan to be a collaborative blog written and read by local moms, and we are passionate about engaging with our readers offline through our exciting local events that connect moms to each other and great local businesses.”
Red Stick Moms Blog will officially launch on Oct. 23, but has already been active on social media and in the community, holding their first event on Sept. 27 in City Park. This “Crafts & Coffee” event allowed moms to socialize in person while engaging in activities with their children.
“We cover everything from potty training, to how to find a preschool, and where to go for a great family-friendly meal. We are the one-stop resource for moms raising kids in Baton Rouge,” said Co-Founder Ashley Ballard, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in management in 2003. “But we don’t want to only be available online. We are passionate about Baton Rouge and the moms who live here, so we plan to work to build community among the moms in Baton Rouge and surrounding area through events, partnerships and networking.”
By being part of the City Moms Blog Network family of websites, Red Stick Moms Blog has almost 20 sister sites from across the country, including New Orleans Moms Blog, that can also serve as valuable resource for moms in the Baton Rouge area.
