Mardi Gras Cluster All-Breed Dog Show | Business

The Baton Rouge Kennel Club and the Alexandria (LA) Kennel Club are pleased to announce that the Mardi Gras Cluster all-breed dog show will return to the Rapides Coliseum, 5600 Coliseum Blvd., in Alexandria for the second consecutive year.  The show will run from Thursday, Jan. 26 thru Sunday, Jan. 29.  Judging will begin each morning at 8 a.m. More than 160 of the 173 breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club will be in attendance to vie for the coveted Best In Show title. 

The two clubs will also be welcoming six new breeds recently recognized by the AKC (Finnish Lapphund, American English Coonhound, Entlebucher Mountain Dog, Norwegian Lundehund, Xoloitzcuintli, and Cesky Terrier).

Admission each day is free, but due to space limitations, no strollers will be allowed in the building and only dogs registered for the shows will be admitted.  In addition to all the dogs, there will be several vendors available if you want to purchase something for your best friend.

“This is a great opportunity for the public to see some of the dogs that will be appearing at the Westminster Kennel Club show in New York City. ” BR Kennel Club President  Betty Cline says. “It’s also a great family event because you will see people of all ages handling the dogs."
